AtScale contains the following new features and improvements.

In-memory dimensional aggregates is now GA

The in-memory dimensional aggregates functionality is now GA. For more information, see In-Memory Dimensional Aggregates.

Usage metrics dashboard

AtScale provides a new Metrics dashboard, which allows you to know more about your AtScale deployment and data and analytics consumption. Dimensionally Modified Aggregates

Using the new Dimensionally Modified Aggregates, you can significantly improve the run-time performance of queries that request Calculated Measures and Calculation Groups. For more information, see Dimensionally Modified Aggregates.

ATSCALE-9789

Scheduling aggregate builds

You can configure the aggregate system to schedule the building of new aggregates at convenient times. This way you can avoid building aggregates immediately after prediction. For details, see Scheduler for Aggregate Creation.

ATSCALE-13390

Including comments in queries

When you need to track and analyze queries, you can include dedicated comments in the inbound queries. For details, see Query Settings.

ATSCALE-1760

SAML Authentication (GA)

Support for Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) authentication for the AtScale Design Center is now generally available. For details, see Configuring SAML SSO Authentication.

ATSCALE-1148

Secure Totals option for security dimensions

The Design Center dialog for creating and editing for security dimensions now features a new Secure Totals option. When turned on (default), it keeps the standard AtScale behavior for security dimensions. If you need only part of the security restrictions to be applied you can turn this option off. For details, see Creating a User-Based Security Dimension.

ATSCALE-13917

Using Tableau Cloud

You can now publish a workbook to Tableau Cloud, so that other users can view in their browser. For details, see Using Tableau Cloud.

ATSCALE-14932

Setting DAX dialect per cube

The dialect to be used for DAX queries can now also be configured on cube level. For details, see Cube Level Configuration Settings.

ATSCALE-15136

Improved support for DAX Tabular

AtScale now also supports the COUNT and DISTINCTCOUNT client-side DAX language elements.

ATSCALE-14752

Aggregate partitioning settings available on cube level

The aggregates.create.partition.hintedAggregate.enabled, aggregates.create.partition.userDefinedAggregate.enabled, aggregates.create.partition.systemDefinedAggregate.enabled, and aggregates.create.partition.systemDefinedAggregate.threshold settings for aggregate partitioning can now be also set on cube level. For details, see Aggregate Creation Settings.

ATSCALE-5380

Support for the LIKE operator with in-memory aggregate caching

When the in-memory aggregate cache is enabled, AtScale can now also use it for queries which have a LIKE operator in the WHERE clause. In case you need to prevent such queries from using the in-memory aggregate cache you can use the new aggregates.tableCache.extraSupportedFunctions.enabled engine setting. For details, see Other Settings for Both System-Defined and User-Defined Aggregates.

ATSCALE-1732

Aggregate details API

You can get detailed information about aggregates via the public API. For more information, see the Aggregate Details API reference.

Beta features

AtScale offers Beta support for the following features:

  • Using token-based authentication

When you have users managed with Azure Active Directory you can switch to token-based authentication. This would simplify report consumption for Power BI service users, since they would only need their Power BI online account to access reports published by cube designers. For details, see Using token-based authentication. (ATSCALE-13110)

  • Using Azure Active Directory

You can now use Azure Active Directory to manage users and groups in AtScale. For details, see Connecting to Azure Active Directory. (ATSCALE-14289)

  • MicroStrategy

You can use MicroStrategy as a BI client. (ATSCALE-13213)

Official support for these features is planned for future releases. If interested in beta testing, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
