Installing the Hive ODBC Driver on Windows Clients

Installing a Hive ODBC driver on your Windows client allows you to connect to the AtScale engine from ODBC-compliant applications.

Procedure​

  1. Download and install the latest Hive ODBC driver for Windows from Cloudera, Hortonworks, or MapR.

    Ensure to choose a driver that is at the appropriate bitness for your client application.

    Attention: Whether Hadoop or Google BigQuery is your data warehouse, you must use one of the Hive ODBC drivers if your client application is ODBC-compliant.

  2. After the installation completes, open the 64-bit ODBC Administrator or 32-bit ODBC Administrator application (depending on the bitness of the driver you are installing).

  3. Go to the Drivers tab and verify that the ODBC Driver for Apache Hive appears in the list.
